Alice Xiaodi Tang is a PhD researcher in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University and a post-disciplinary artist. Working across empirical research, community organizing, and artistic experimentation, their practice engages with the sociopolitics of technological systems, situated learning and making, and more-than-human relationality. Their research and collaborative projects have been presented at ACM SIGCHI conferences, the Society for Social Studies of Science’s annual meeting, and the Open Hardware Summit, while their broader practice encompasses public education initiatives and labor-academic partnerships informing federal transportation policy recommendations. Their work has also been supported by the Catwalk Art Residency, Newlab, the Tisch Creative Research Grant, and the Martin A. Dale ’53 Fellowship, and exhibited at the Shanghai International Design Festival, THE BLANC, Bantam Machine Art Gallery, Pittsburgh Frame Gallery, the Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry, New York University, CultureHub, Nguyen Wahed Gallery, and the Museum of the Moving Image.
